LifeAire Systems is a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of advanced air purification filters used in critical environments. As production volumes and product complexity increase, LifeAire requires improved digital tools to manage inventory, ensure lot traceability, and support scalable manufacturing operations. This project proposes the design and pilot implementation of an RFID-enabled barcode system to track raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and customer shipments across LifeAire’s manufacturing facility. In collaboration with Alvernia University faculty and student teams, the project will develop a prototype system that captures inventory movements, preserves lot genealogy from raw material through final customer delivery, and provides near real-time visibility into manufacturing operations. The system will be piloted within LifeAire’s Pennsylvania facility to evaluate improvements in inventory accuracy, labor efficiency, and traceability completeness. This project delivers hands-on manufacturing innovation experience for students while strengthening LifeAire’s operational infrastructure and competitiveness within the Commonwealth.
