Penn State University researchers collaborate with PA manufacturing company on 3D Sand-Printing
Jun 19, 2019
3D sand-printing is one of the latest additive manufacturing (3D printing) techniques, and offers unparalleled advantage to traditional industries, such as foundries. Penn State University and Hazelton Casting Company collaborated to implement new mold designs, which were developed at Penn State, directly into the production of large steel castings in Hazelton Casting Company. This study not only demonstrated the commercial benefits of 3D Sand-Printing to foundries, but also illustrated the possibilities for designing next generation castings.
